Voyage Houston

“Our informal approach and free-to-attend concerts have attracted many audience members who are new to classical music. Our outdoor concerts are a special place because it’s a chance to connect with your neighbors, and bring your kids and dogs to the event…It’s more of a block party vibe than a formal concert! And on the other hand, Monarch brings the same exact high-quality musical program to a neighborhood front lawn show, a dentist’s parking lot, a formal indoor concert series, and a retirement home on the same weekend…

Arts and Culture Texas

“Incredibly, a new chamber music collective has exploded onto the Houston performing arts scene despite the inhospitable pandemic environment. The brainchild of Houston-based clarinetist Rebecca Tobin, Founder and Director of Monarch Chamber Players, the ensemble has performed over 60 outdoor concerts since last October, taking music directly to the people, popping up in neighborhood parks, cul-de-sacs, and church lots, and just as often on people’s front yards, porches, and driveways…”

Houston Chronicle

“A beloved holiday classic is making its way around the city this month, as Houston’s Monarch Chamber Players presents its second annual “Neighborhood Nutcracker” series. From one community to the next, the ensemble’s core wind quintet… will evoke the spirit of the season with a pared-down version of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score. Their live performances, which are free and open to the public, will accompany the 1993 film of George Balanchine’s production featuring the New York City Ballet that will be projected onto a nearby screen…”

What our audiences are saying…

The musicians are polished, adaptive, and delightfully personable. I’ve worked with musicians nationwide and rarely seen a program make it so easy to connect with classical musicians and their art.
— Caitlin F., private concert attendee and host
We have hosted this wonderful ensemble three times in the last two years, and have enjoyed every minute! The concerts gave us an opportunity to catch up with some neighbors and meet others for the first time.

The Monarch Chamber Players have performed twice at The Raven Grill and both times our customers were absolutely delighted. The enthusiasm, positive spirit and remarkable artistic skill of all of the performers make any of the MCP productions a stress-free voyage of classical excellence.
— The Raven Grill, restaurant host
Hosting the Monarch Chamber Players has been such a great community building experience for our neighborhood and has allowed us to meet new neighbors and friends. People look forward to the concerts and to the chance to get together.
